WSC 2025 Pricing & Policy Changes

Dear Valued Members and Guests,

As we look back on 2024, we are excited to see how much the WSC community has grown, with memberships increasing by 20% and expansion in our offerings across tennis, golf, pickleball, and fitness. As our club continues to grow and thrive, we're implementing several important updates effective January 1, 2025. These changes will enable our club to reinvest into the team, our member community, and the facility. For each change, we want to share what's changing, why we're making the change, and how it benefits you as a current or prospective member.

Court Booking System Updates

1. Elimination of 30-Minute Gaps

  • The Change: The system will no longer allow bookings that create 30-minute gaps between reservations.

  • Why: These gaps create "dead time" where courts sit empty but aren't long enough for a proper session.

  • The Benefit: This adds approximately 20 more bookable court hours per week for our community.

2. Three-Reservation Limit

  • The Change: Members will be limited to 3 active reservations within any rolling 7-day period. Courts may still be booked 7 days in advance.

  • Why: Currently, a small number of members are holding excessive advance bookings.

  • The Benefit: More members will have access to preferred time slots, creating fairer access for everyone.

3. Single Court Booking Rule

  • The Change: Members can only book one court at a time (no side-by-side bookings).

  • Why: To offer all court booking members more opportunities to book courts.

  • The Benefit: Increases court availability and prevents defensive booking practices.

Security and Member Experience

4. Member Photos Requirement

  • The Change: All CourtReserve accounts must include current photos of all users associated with the account.

  • Why: We've experienced instances of account sharing and unauthorized access.

  • The Benefit: Enhanced security for your membership investment and more personalized service from our staff.

5. Guest Fee Implementation

  • The Change: $10+tax guest fee for all non-passholders that play on reserved tennis courts ($5+tax for pickleball guests). We are testing functionality in CourtReserve to make this as easily as possible for booking members or guests to pay. More detailed instructions to follow.

  • Why: To ensure our facilities and services remain high-quality while keeping member rates competitive.

  • The Benefit: Maintains facility quality without raising member rates, while still offering guests a below-market rate.

Pricing Structure

6. Standardized Court Rate

  • The Change: When booking courts, members will be able to select a duration of 30, 60, or 90 minutes. Each 30 minutes will cost $21.14+tax. No separate rates for singles and doubles.

  • Why: Simplifies our booking process and pricing structure. No need to book two 30 minute reservations for a desired one hour booking.

  • The Benefit: Less confusing booking process and flexibility allows maximum court availability for members.

7. New Member Initiation Fee

  • The Change: One-time $50+tax initiation fee for memberships

  • Why: Helps offset increased administrative costs and encourages commitment to longer-term membership.

  • The Benefit: Allows us to maintain competitive monthly membership rates while ensuring stable, long-term club operations.

8. Tax Display

  • The Change: Pricing for events and classes will no longer be tax inclusive.

  • Why: Increasing demand and the need for us to continue offering some of the best programming in the area.

  • The Benefit: The club can continue to invest in its program, instructors and overall experience.

9. USTA Team Fees

  • The Change: USTA fees for home & visiting teams will increase to $21+tax and will include a can of Babolat balls from our retail shop for each court.

  • Why: Helps offset court maintenance fees, and supports WSC’s contract with Babolat requiring all Babolat balls to be used on court.

  • The Benefit: Our USTA teams get to play with high-quality, durable Babolat balls at a discounted price.

Court Usage Policies

10. Outside Ball Machines & Hoppers Prohibited

  • The Change: Outside ball machines and baskets of balls will no longer be allowed. Rental baskets of Babolat balls will be available for a $15+tax fee.

  • Why: We’ve had instances of unauthorized external coaching on WSC courts. Additionally, external ball machines damage the court surfaces, and low-quality balls inadvertently get mixed in with the Babolats used for classes.

  • The Benefit: Increases the usability of courts for internal coaching and classes. Our Playmate Smash ball machine remains available for rent on courts #7 and #8.

11. Court Shoes Required

  • The Change: Court shoes specifically designed for tennis or pickleball must be worn on court (no sneakers or running shoes).

  • Why: Risk of injury without proper footwear, and non-court shoes can leave permanent markings on the courts.

  • The Benefit: Court shoes provide extra grip and stability for the quick side-to-side movements required in tennis and pickleball. Many high-quality court shoes can be purchased for less than the price of one group class. (Examples of women’s and men’s).
